Shoots 1 Multicultural Training

Please join us for Shoots 1 training, the next step in GRuB’s multicultural and communication training series, Roots, Shoots & Fruits (RSF). This workshop builds on the work of the Roots Training you attended. Roots training is a prerequisite to attend this training. Shoots 1 hopes to assist in building awareness and offers tools to enable successful communication and collaboration across multicultural differences. The training develops new skills for participants to build relationships, and aims to offer a safe and inclusive space for people to explore topics that intersect with food justice. Shoots 1 begins with Community Build, an interactive game for learning the structure of a typical community. The afternoon includes discussion and learning a common language for understanding social justice, oppression, and ways to grow inclusive community.

Bring your sack lunch, dress comfortably, and bring your curiosity! Participation in the series is complimentary for GRuB Community members and $50 for the public. Pre-registration is required. Bring a sack lunch, and GRuB will provide snacks, tea, and coffee. Babes-in-arms are welcome. (Unfortunately we are unable to provide childcare for older children.) Workshops are held in our ADA accessible classroom. Please let us know if you have any special accommodations or questions. We'd love to have you join us!

“The way I see Roots and Shoots is that the ideas discussed help us see ourselves and our thoughts and behaviors and understand them better so that we work on ourselves to move toward positive change.” RSF Participant
