Stay tuned for updates on 2019 Seed to Table programs!
All Seed to Table camps, whether day camps or week-long, will give children an opportunity to learn about the natural world in our beautiful farm setting, and explore the farm’s bounty through snacks, meals, and remedies created in our kitchen classroom. Each week-long camp will also feature active outdoor play and field trips to favorite Olympia locations. And, of course, our time together will be infused with the GRuB values of kindness, respect, and mutual support.
Camp typically runs Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Campers may be dropped off starting at 8:40am and can be picked up until 3:20pm at no extra charge.
Both weeks will include daily gardening and cooking activities, as well as crafts and outdoor fun. Kids will make their own snack daily from produce we harvest from the farm, and we’ll make our own lunch on Fridays. We will also take walking/Intercity Transit field trips to fun destinations such as the Heritage Park fountain, Percival Landing Park, and East Bay Public Plaza. Parents are invited to spend some time at pickup on Fridays sampling the snacks we’ve made and learning about our week’s adventures. Join us for a fun, enriching, and delicious experience!
Past Camps Topics Include:
The Buzz on Bees
Bees are the superheroes of the insect world. They have ultraviolet vision, can smell a flower from miles away and can fly for six miles nonstop. Bees also pollinate ⅓ of all our food crops and, of course, make an incredibly delicious and nutritious food–honey! This week we’ll learn amazing facts about bees as we study live hives and preserved specimens. And, of course, we’ll snack on plenty of sweet sticky honey snacks! On Friday, kids can educate their parents on bees’ superpowers while they snack on honey treats.
Herbs are truly amazing plants. We use them to heal our bodies, flavor our food, and stimulate our senses. We offer this camp every year, exploring new herbal experiences while retaining kids’ favorite activities. Join us for a week of farm fun with salves, scents, pickles and potions. As always, we’ll end the week with a spa party featuring herbal foot soaks and samples of our week’s culinary treats
