Celebrating 25 years of GRuB

GRuB is celebrating our 25th Birthday this year!

Back in 2001, the Kitchen Garden Project and the Sister Holly garden joined together to form GRuB, planting seeds for the future. We will be celebrating this momentous birthday with gatherings, stories, and projects across the year. We will be sharing 25 stories of impact and inspiration throughout the year, as well as our vision for the future, including the goals in our new strategic plan.

Youth Programs at GRuB

On GRuB’s three acre farm, youth grow food for themselves and the community, nurture connections, and cultivate their social-emotional, academic, and leadership skills.

Wild Foods & Medicines

GRuB’s Wild Foods and Medicine program connects youth with wild local plants and the rich cultural traditions that surround them, and offers training and curriculum with tribal educators and school teachers.

With the federal government’s recent elimination of SNAP-Ed, along with changes in Youth Program funding, GRuB is facing a significant new budget gap, on the order of $300,000 or close to 25% of our budget. And, this is happening right when the communities we serve are facing increasing barriers to food, safety, and support—GRuB’s work is more critical than ever.
