Meet our new tractor!
This summer we purchased a new tractor, thanks to surprise funding from The Russell Family Foundation. The Foundation has been a generous supporter for GRuB’s youth program for over a decade. When they heard that our old tractor was unreliable, they offered a bonus grant to make a new purchase possible.
We appreciate that the relationship with The Russell Family Foundation is so much more than financial. Across the years, the Foundation has sought our advice, walked the farm with us, offered emergency bridge funding, and then surprised us this spring with a special award for both the tractor and to expand accessible seating on our farm!
Our program officer, Fabiola Greenawalt, shared the following:

We were drawn to GRuB’s place-based, hands-on approach that uses the farm and the outdoors as a classroom, helping young people build environmental literacy, leadership, and a lasting connection to land and community. GRuB’s commitment to experiential learning, youth empowerment, and stewardship reflects the values TRFF seeks to advance, and we’re inspired by the impact of its environmental eduacation programs season after season.”
We are so grateful for our many funding partners like The Russell Family Foundation. In a typical year, GRuB receives grants from over 25 private foundations, many of them based here in western Washington, with a deep dedication to addressing the needs and opportunities in the local community.
