Exciting news - we are thrilled to announce GRuB’s new co-Executive Director!
Starting January 1st, Sade Gilliom (they/them) will join Deb Crockett (she/her) as co-Executive Director.
Sade has worked with four local, non-profit orgs and has 14 years of experience in environmental education, program development and event management. They first came to GRuB as an Americorps Member with the GRuB Garden Project in 2017; since then, they’ve held a variety of roles including: Summer Camp Leader, Grant Coordinator, Operations Manager and Finance and Land Stewardship Manager. Starting this year, they are collaborating with the Department of Youth, Children, and Families to launch a garden program with youth who are incarcerated. In all, they bring a depth of experience with GRuB programs, operations and leadership.
More than what they’ve done, we celebrate Sade’s leadership qualities: they have deep listening skills and encounter new perspectives with curiosity and openness. Sade’s gentle, easy manner makes them grounded, approachable and welcoming; they meet people where they are and invite them into belonging at GRuB. Most importantly, they embody our mission and are rooted in a deep love of the land and our community.
GRuB is transitioning to a Co-Executive Director model since we believe that shared leadership will reflect GRuB’s core values and make Executive Director responsibilities more sustainable. Sade and Deb have worked together closely since 2019 and we’re excited to see how GRuB will blossom in the seasons ahead.
From Sade: I am thrilled to accept this position and collaborate with Deb, the staff team and our wider GRuBby community to continue to facilitate connection with each other and the land while growing, sharing and gathering around food.
