Here's a story from our Youth Program, one of the programs that is at the very core of GRuB's work and mission, and has been since the very beginning.

Coyote Mosquera-Shaw is a current staff member at GRuB that started in the Youth Program in 2020. The Youth Program impacted him so much that he decided to return as a Farm Assistant, Farm Coordinator, and is now the Community Engagement Coordinator.

Coyote says: The Youth Program was there in such a dark and scary time for everyone, in the midst of the pandemic, after I had just moved to a new area with almost no community. All of us on the crew that year were so desperate for connection that we bonded really deeply with each other, and I feel that that season was so transformative and healing for everyone involved. The adults teaching and leading us also made an extreme impact on me. I had never felt so seen or understood by adults in my life, and it really fueled my passion for learning and living up to their expectations. They were clear, compassionate, and curious leaders, who fostered my huge growth in farm skills, personal and professional confidence, and leadership. I’m now a full-time staff member at GRuB, 5 years later, and I get to mentor youth myself, hopefully making that same impact that changed my life so much.
