GRuB Farmhouse 2016 Elliott Ave NW Olympia Wa, 98502
Event: Plant Technologies: Cordage and Basic Weaving Techniques

Over millennia, our ancestors have built homes, made tools and clothing, harvested and cooked food, and created beautiful art with plants. Through careful observation, they noticed qualities that help plants to survive in their environment, and they used those qualities to create their own technologies. In this workshop we will explore native plants including nettle, fireweed, cattail, cedar, and willow that are used to make cordage, mats, baskets and other useful tools. Participants will gain skills on how to teach basic cordage and mat-making techniques, and will walk away with a curriculum and a teaching kit.

We are offering a sliding scale for this workshop. Pay what you can: $100 or $125 - proceeds will cover supply costs and support GRuB programs.

Registration closes September 15, 2022.

Limit 15 participants.

Classes subject to change based on COVID safety protocols.
