Each spring, GRuB’s Victory Garden Project (VGP) partners with veterans, individuals, families, and organizations to build backyard vegetable gardens. We work throughout Thurston County to provide the public with access to the knowledge and resources needed to grow fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate foods. The VGP offers gardens, vegetable seeds, plant starts, cover crop mix, and an educational gardening workshop series, as well as provides opportunities for connections within the greater gardening community.
The 2019 Victory Garden applications are available! Download a copy in English or Spanish. If you need assistance, just give us a call at 360-753-5522 or email vgp@goodgrub.org. We can mail you an application, help you fill one out, and answer any questions you might have.
To qualify for a free VGP garden, applicants must have an income at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines at the time of application. The guidelines are listed in detail on the application.
We review all applications to ensure eligibility and select recipients through a lottery process. We'll contact garden recipients by February 15, 2019 and sign folks up for one of the required orientation meetings to learn more about partnering with us. Orientations take place in late February, and we build gardens from late March until May.
