Growing Home Collective is launching a series of workshops exploring historic Black recipes and food traditions. We begin our learning journey on Monday April 20th, from 5-7:30p with a hands-on cooking session around the famous Bean Pie, a dessert widely shared in the 1960s through the work of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam. This pie originated as a symbol and example of:
• Black entrepreneurship
• Community sovereignty
• Healthy living
• Skill sharing and self-reliance
• Connection to land and ancestral food wisdom
Come and learn how to cook this historic recipe! Participants will take home a slice of pie!

5:30-7:30p Pie making, discussion and tasting (Please arrive on time for this activity so you can fully participate.)
Note: This workshop is open to people of all backgrounds and Growing Home Collective members get a discounted ticket. Max attendees is 35 so register soon as space is limited!
