Embrace the gifts of common “weeds” thriving in backyards, fields, and school grounds. Plants including cleavers, dandelion, plantain, purslane, red clover, and yarrow may feed pollinators, improve the soil, and provide nutritious food or powerful medicine. Tend, Gather and Grow team members and their children will share tips for identifying, ethical harvesting, processing, and preparing many local plants. This is a great opportunity for educators, including parents, to receive a handout and plant activities that can be adapted for kindergarteners through adults.
Taught by Elizabeth Campbell (Spokane), Mariana Harvey (Yakama), and Elise Krohn.
